RADIOACTIVE LEGACY

Format: lecture-performance
Creation date: 2026
Location: Climate Academy - Paris
Event: International Congress “Facing extractivism / arts and literature”
Duration: 20 mins
Support: Alice Dauron

Nuclear power plants operate on an extraction/burial system. On the one hand, we take uranium, and on the other, we bury highly toxic substances in the deep layer of the Earth for tens of thousands of years.
Extractivism when it reaches the atomic stage becomes a mode of deadly terraforming which distorts our relationship to time and space. Continuing the work of Gunther Anders, this work allows us to reflect on the way in which nuclear power plants as "traumatic technology" modify our relationship to the earth by locking us into scenarios
catastrophic. Continuing this reflection, we would like to show how extractivism, when it reaches a certain level of technology, makes us all enter what we call the “traumatocene”.
