ONE-STRAW

One-straw is an exhibition that considers artworks that, in a context of global warming, only need a minimum of materials and only spend a minimum energy in terms of production and transportation. In his book The One-Straw Revolution, Masanobu Fukuoka, the founding father of Japanese permaculture, describes his method of natural farming that allows, through a deep understanding of ecosystems, to obtain better yields while causing a minimum of damage on the environment.
In this exhibition, taking inspiration form permaculture principles, we used modest gestures that respect the environment in which they get activated. Memorization, charcoal making, knot making, casting with newsprints and rubber erasure, are here through as practices that allow the making of an exhibition that can disappear without leaving any trace.
